About the Speaker:  

Tamera Weisser is Of Counsel in the Intellectual Property practice group of Jones Day, an international law firm with over 2500 attorneys worldwide.  She received her B.S. In Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Ph.D. in Immunology and Virology from the University of Massachusetts, and law degree from Georgetown University.  Tamera has been practicing biotechnology patent law since 1999, first as a patent agent and then as an patent attorney when she moved to San Diego in 2004, and she was named by The Daily Transcript  as one of the top "Young Attorneys" in San Diego in 2009 and 2010.  Tamera currently serves on the Board of Directors of AWIS-SD, as well as the Strategy Sessions Committee, and received the AWIS-SD  "Volunteer of the Year" award in 2011.  Tamera is also a member of Lawyers Club of San Diego, a women's bar association comprised of over 1000 members, where she is co-chair of the Balance Committee, which works to identify, develop, and promote policies and practices to facilitate work-life balance and encourage the hiring, retention and advancement of women in the legal profession.  She was elected to the Lawyers Club Board of Directors to serve a 3-year term beginning in July.  Most recently, Tamera received the 2012 Athena San Diego Pinnacle Award, being recognized as an outstanding individual in the San Diego services industry.  Athena San Diego is an organization comprised of executive women in the high-tech, biosciences, healthcare, defense, energy, clean-tech and services industries. The Pinnacle Awards are presented annually to those individuals that strive to enhance diversity through the identification, development and advancement of skilled and talented women, and have had a beneficial impact within their organization and the San Diego community.
