The Events Committee provides a forum for social events and to discuss issues pertinent to women in science.

The purpose of the Newsletter is to report on Chapter activities and to provide information about issues that may be of interest to AWIS-San Diego members. The Newsletter typically includes profiles of AWIS members, descriptions of AWIS events, information about non-AWIS events, and articles about science, technology and health.

The Outreach Committee of the San Diego Chapter of AWIS is dedicated to nurturing and educating girls and young women interested in science and science-related fields. Our primary goal is to teach young women that they all have the ability to enjoy and succeed in the areas of science, math, engineering, and technology. Most importantly, we aim to demonstrate to young women that science is fun!

The goal of the Public Relations Committee (PR) is to increase public awareness and interest in AWIS and AWIS-sponsored events using contacts in the local media.

The Scholarship Program strives to encourage and reward aspiring women scientists pursuing their degrees in San Diego colleges and universities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The scholarships, now in their 13th year, are awarded annually and have contributed to students pursuing their degrees, conducting research projects, or assisting with additional educational expenses, with an emphasis on STEM fields where women are underrepresented.

The Strategy Sessions are a Members Only forum for learning, networking, sharing, and growing.

The goal of the Strategy Sessions is to facilitate networking and provide peer-to-peer mentoring opportunities among AWIS members via meaningful discussions in small group settings. Experiential learning methods foster professional and personal development and education among AWIS members.

The Website committee is to provide information about the programs and activities of the San Diego Chapter of AWIS to members and non-members. The website committee works with the AWIS Board and Committee Chairs to ensure that the information appearing on the website is current.

WIST committee organizes the Women in Science and Technology Conference (WIST) and is assembled every other year ~7 months before the conference takes place in May.  WIST conference is a one-day symposium focusing on career and personal development as well as networking of women in STEM at all levels. The conference includes two inspiring and prominent keynote speakers, exciting and informative workshops, round-tables, and seminars for individuals at all stages of their careers in both academia and industry, and provides excellent networking opportunities.
