Member-at-large Aparna obtained her Ph.D. in Integrative Biology from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. She was a postdoctoral researcher at the Moores UCSD Cancer Center before joining Gen-Probe, Inc. in 2007 where she is a Senior Scientist (Product Development). Aparna has been an active member of AWIS-SD since 2006. She served on the WiB 2007 organizing committee and as Co-Chair of the Publications Committee for WIST 2009. Julie Bordowitz

Julie received her B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology in 2003, from the University of Arizona. After a year off, during which she continued research as a technician in her undergraduate lab, she ventured to the mid-west to persue graduate school. In 2009, Julie received her Ph.D in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Michigan State University.

After completing her PhD in neuroscience and pharmacology at the University ‘Victor Segalen Bordeaux 2’(France), Lawrence moved to San Diego in 2004 to pursue her postdoctoral training. Tamera is an Intellectual Property attorney at the international law firm of Jones Day and earned her law degree from Georgetown University. Her legal practice includes domestic and foreign patent portfolio development, management and enforcement in all areas of biotechnology.
